Inlayed Floor

Just took this 7 1/2" diameter tower floor to another level by doing an inlay design in the wood floor. The floor is 1/4" balsa joist, 1/16" balsa underlayment, and wood coffee stirrers as floorboards. I love doing floors this way instead of simply inscribing balsa wood sheets to look like floor boards. An inscribed sheet will be uniformly flat whereas this style will be flat but have lots of texture that will stand out when washed with ink. Finally, this style is incredibly realistic. So while it can take extra time over other methods it produces fabulous results.
